A-Listed and The Mill to Collaborate

Scotland’s groundbreaking new-music night, The Mill has teamed up with the nation’s hottest new weekend supplement to present TWO of the indie scene’s most hotly-tipped bands,

For one night only, The Mill, created by Miller Genuine Draft has teamed up with A-Listed to present a special Edinburgh Festival gig that brings together Falkirk’s fast-rising ska-soul-indie fusionists The Ray Summers and Glasgow’s acclaimed post-punk rockers The King Hats.

Both bands have been named as 'Scotland’s most likely to' by some of the nation’s most respected music journalists but the News of the World’s acclaimed music-led supplement A-Listed has been especially supportive.

A-Listed editor Tim Barr said: 'We’re all aware of how many promising new bands there are in Scotland so it takes something really special to stand out. Anyone who’s seen either The Ray Summers or The King Hats play live will testify that they’ve got a unique magic that sets them apart from some very stiff competition.

'The Ray Summers – you’ve got to love that name – conjure with elements of ska, soul, blues, reggae and indie to create a sound that’s like no other. Imagine The Specials, The Wailers, The Small Faces and Otis Redding sharing a dressing room together and you’ll be on the money.'

Tim, who’s the author of several books including Kraftwerk: From Dusseldorf To The Future and The Rough Guide To Techno, has also been hugely impressed by The King Hats. He explained: 'Few up-and-coming acts can match the intensity of a King Hats live show. They’ve developed a sound that’s edgy and different without forgetting to include a ton of great pop hooks.'

Andy Ure, singer in The Ray Summers, added: 'The Mill is a great event and we’re really looking forward to playing just as the Edinburgh Festival gets under way. We’ve got a couple of special surprises ready for the fans too.'

King Hats frontman Alan Power said:"We have wanted to play The Mill for ages now, and to be picked by one of Scotland's top music writers is amazing. The Mill gives us a great opportunity to promote the band that we could never
imagine to afford ourselves. The chance to have our tracks professionally produced by someone like Tony Doogan and to be able to keep all the rights to the material is incredible."
